backyard bird of prey

I came home today to pick up the dog to take him to the groomer - when out of the side of my eye I saw a flash fly into the tree beside the drive.  This gorgeous bird perched on this branch long enough for me to switch lenses and take several shots. 

I have googled and I am going to guess he is a sharp shinned hawk.  

I was having a very emotional morning and was glad to get out of work for a few minutes in the bright sunshine.  Unfortunately the time change has reduced my available sunlight.  Seeing this amazing creature really lifted my spirits.
