Castellammare del Golfo

Beautiful weather on the northwestern tip of Sicily. The average temperature is 20ºC. On the way from Palermo to Trapani, I stopped at Castellammare del Golfo and then the Greek site of Segesta. Today's blip shows a view of the upper town of Castellammare del Golfo ('the fort on the Gulf''). It used to be the harbor of Segesta, but the present town was founded by the Arabs. It is also the birthplace of most of the infamous New York mafia leaders!
