Thank you for the air we breathe

I realize I just posted a photo of a leaf the other day, but the magic of this time will soon pass and I felt inspired to savor more of it. It's nothing short of miraculous to think this colorful salad that will decompose back to the earth worked as chemical powerhouses for many months taking in carbon dioxide and making the oxygen we breathe. I found this information online:

Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four.

Now these leaves lie comfortably together, touching the earth for the first time. If you come in close and listen, you can almost hear them whispering good bye.
