At Cain
It's still raining, but Len and I had the most marvellous trip to the Cares Gorge today.
The route through the Valdeon is spectacular with all the Autumn colour.
Photo is of a peak overlooking the small tourist centre of Cain, at the start of the walk down the gorge. It passes through massive karstic limestones.
Eon has diverted the river Cares into a channel for hydroelectric power game. Enough water still flows through the gorge. A fish ladder next to the small dam enables salmon to reach their spawning beds. We didn't see any.
On the way back we were held up by a herd of cows and heifers walking down the road to their milking sheds.
Near to Potes, we were stopped by the Guardia Civil. I was driving and didn't have my driving licence on me. Fortunately Len did.
