Behind the Mask

On Monday we were warned at work of central London demonstrations this week. Tonight was the Million Masks March, organised by the activist group Anonymous campaigning against the loss of civil liberties. If you're interested you can google for details. I (Chris) spotted at lunchtime that photographer friend and sometime blipper Dani (and boyfriend Seb) was intending to go and take photos so we arranged to meet up at Trafalgar Square.

It all seemed quite well natured. The masks (intended to evoke Guy Fawkes) were a bit odd. There were many police announcements regarding their right to request the removal of masks if necessary. I could have done with something other than the 50mm prime lens I'm currently restricting myself too and a flash gun would certainly have helped but it was good fun to try. We followed the march to Westminster and with the energy levels rising I then departed for home. From the news reports I've just seen it looks like things have stepped up a bit since I left!! A couple more in the extras and more here.

I (Annie) was the subject of a blip myself today, with some really lovely words: see Matthew's shot here. I went to visit him at his work at lunchtime today, and great fun being shown round bits of race cars being made and looking at their massive computing power. Matthew has become a really close friend since first meeting us through blip - lovely how that happens. :)

For anyone interested in coming to the meet at Blenheim Palace this coming Saturday (7th November): we'll be at 12.00pm at Hampers Food and Wine cafe on Oxford Street (the main street in Woodstock) for those of you wanting to grab a social lunch. If you'd prefer to join later, we'll be at the entrance to the courtyard (by the gift shop exit) in the Blenheim Palace grounds around 1.30pm. We'll arrange our itinerary from there based on how wet it is...

If you want to get in touch about arrangements, you can contact Annie at anniesgotmail (at) gmail.com - it'd help to know you're coming so we know who to look out for. I (Annie) will be the one with purple hair, and looking less scary than on our blip of the 31st October this year!
