Back blip for a long work day

Having mentioned pikas were my favorite rodent  look alike ( they aren't though , they are related to rabbits) and not having anything to blip today , I thought I would post one of the better photos I had of the little cuties. It certainly beats another shot of my desk at work! And the cats are sleeping . I mean they are cute and fuzzy too , but how many sleeping cats can you post? Pikas are found in the lower 48 states at high altitude and are adapted to cold weather with thick fur and paws that get traction on snow. They collect greens and store it in their burrows in piles called haystacks which the feed on through the winter. They are pretty particular about what they put in the stacks, apparently some of the greens they add have anti fungal properties that help keep the haystacks fresher and usable through the winter. The poor little guys are pushing the endangered species list courtesy of global warming (yes ! it is real!! ask the pikas and polar bears) and they can die if temps reach a blazing 78 degrees. So... lower your carbon foot print and help save the pikas! And maybe your beachfront property !
