Building the Bonfire

13.3 starting with fog which cleared quickly. Some brightness, but mostly cloudy. Occasional light showers. Light Breeze.

Apothecary7's day off. We went into Dundee, had tea/coffee and croissant/scone in M&S cafe, and bought a few groceries. Then we went up to the big retail park off the Kingsway and visited two shops to get supplies for an art idea Apothecary7 wants to try. She/we might have a go at the weekend ...

After lunch I took Maeve the Deerhound for a walk. The Band from Rockall on the Nano (The Band from Rockall). We went down the shore road and over the road bridge over the railway to Westhaven beach. There were quite a number of people carrying all shapes and sizes of pieces of wood down the beach to well below the high tide mark. A large bonfire was under construction. I thought the bonfire, which the people who have the fishermen's huts seem to have each year, was going to be last night when I had seen wood being dumped on the beach by tractor but no. I am guessing tonight because of how far down the beach they were building the bonfire. If they wait until Saturday night the tide would probably wash it away.

I took a few photos then we came back over the road bridge over the railway then carried on round in a loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.
