Concentration camp

Today I went with a friend to the recently opened memorial museum at the former Camp Joffre, used as a concentration camp after the refugee influx following the Spanish Civil war and later as a forwarding camp forJews and 'undesirables' to Drancy and ultimately Auschwitz.  The exhibitions and films are excellent with the history of refugee crises documented right up to the present day. The museum is in an austere semi subterranean block that is well conceived so as not to distract from the surrounding dilapidated huts.  It has an long, minimalist entrance passage that strikes the right chord.   More information about the camp can be found here and a Flickr set here.
