Clear moments on foggy days

So it goes like this these days. I'll ask him a question. And in response I might get a "fine". That's if I'm lucky. If I ask him to do something I'll get a guttural grumpy sound. 13 year old Sam's not been that talkative with his old mum of later. Unless I get him outside, away from computers, away from the tv, xbox and phone...then he still reassuringly shines like a bright light in a dark forest. He still spots birds and beasts I would have missed. He still knows all their names. He still likes to teach me about them.

And so, Nature boy still lurks within. We just have to dig a bit deeper to find him these days.
