All the talk of traditions is all very well, but if you can't get near to the firework site because of queue of cars, fenced off areas, police cordons and no lay-bys for drop offs, and if you (and your bairns, but let's be honest here, mostly you), are pretty disappointed to miss out, you have to try and find something exciting to turn the evening around.

Rocky Road and Blue Raspberry with hot chocolate fudge sauce ought to do it.

The boys were pretty pleased with their first B&R experience too it has to be said. Probably not the best idea for the little one, who cried for his blankie all the way home and who finally fell asleep after a long nap less day in his car seat with very berry strawberry smeared across his face. Probably not the best idea for the big swimming boy either, who won a bronze at the club championships today and who is back poolside at 8.30am tomorrow.
