Freeze

I happened to catch this guy making its way from the backyard to the front yard, using the fence as a highway. It froze in its tracks and held the pose in the picture when it saw me. I stood there and stared at it, and it just stayed still. I’m guessing it’s probably an automatic, evolutionarily produced response designed to avoid being caught by predators? I found it highly amusing, since it completely stood out from its background. XD  “Even if you don’t move, I can still see you!” I said to it. The strategy would probably have worked better if it were running in a grassy field or forest...
