Nancy's 90th

We went to the cenotaph this morning to listen to the eulogy and trumpet marking the remembrance. As usual we arrived about ten minutes before 11; the crowd was not as large as previous years, probably as the weather was wetter, looking back on previous years' blips I can see that the weather was better.

We then went off to Leamington Spa, firstly to drop Tom at the station so he could get to the Villa match, but mainly because we had been invited to a 90th birthday celebration. We have known Nancy for years, she was Ann's dad's friend from way back and we had kept in touch. The party was in the local community centre, a surprisingly comfortable place laid out with tables and chairs and decorated accordingly. There must have been about 80 people there, wine and beer flowed and there was a very good buffet lunch. The cake was decorated with playing (she plays Whist and Bridge) and bingo cards.

After lunch the entertainment consisted of the local Leamington ukulele band, some of whom are in the photos. Appropriately some of the old songs were performed with most people joining in the singing. This was followed by bingo at which point Ann and I left to pick up Tom, after a cup of tea at Costa.
