Caching in

Why "Caching in"? Is cache actually cash mid-spelt. No, nothing to do with money. Everything to do with values.

Caching or Geocaching to give it it's full title is a hobby, some say obsession. It is based on a treasure hunt using GPS devices. It is described as "Using multi-million pound satellites to find tupperware in the forest". The concept is simple. You hide a "cache" and mark its location using GPS coordinates. Publish these online via a service, and others go find it and sign the log book you hide with it.

What has all this to do with the photo?. Well one group of caches are called "Lest we forget". They are usually placed near memorials to encourage us to remember why they were erected.

How many times do you pass a memorial and never stop to read the words and names?. When out caching we hunt for tiny objects just for the fun of it. But when we find a "Lest we forget" we are encouraged to remember what others have done so that we can do what we do. It's nice that something so new can still find a way to link us to the past.
