Money .....

..... or rather, the lack of it.

This pawnbrokers on Swinton precinct has been closed since early 2014.

The notice on the door explains that Albemarle and Bond, the second largest pawnbrokers in this country, went into administration partly as a result of the falling price of gold. Sadly, not because people no longer had to pawn their goods to make ends meet.

Combined with the vacant unit next door (years ago there used to be a record shop here), the empty market area around the corner, and the thoroughly wet and gloomy day, it made for a rather depressing scene. Sorry about that !
