Bharatpur......

........a paradise for the avian world and a pilgrimage for bird lovers.
Got up before sunrise today so we could be in the park to watch the sun come up. And it was so worthwhile. The National Park is huge, with one tar aced road running through it so we got a bicycle rickshaw and were taken through the park. Our cyclist/ guide was brilliant - he spotted so many birds we would never have seen and knew what each of them was called. We really did see thousands, from tiny little humming birds to huge painted storks and everything in between. King fishers have always been a real favourite of mine and we saw loads - we were totally spoils!
We then left the beauty of the park and returned to the hotel for a late breakfast. Then set off again.
Our next stop was a place called Fatehpur Sikri - an ancient and incredible fort and palace built in the mid 15th century. Another stunning building. It was really only used for 14 years - then more or less abandoned.
Then drove to Agra.
