Broken Bridge

I think this used to be a bridge over the river at one time, it has been there all the time I have been walking along the river! The water was still fast flowing today after yesterdays rain.
The extra today is coins hammered into an old tree trunk, perhaps to make it less slip for climbing on, but not sure, they are current coins but I couldn't prise any out!!
