Wojtek The Bear
This fantastic sculpture was unveiled at the weekend in Princes Street Gardens.
It commemorates Wojtek the Soldier Bear, who was adopted by Polish soldiers during the war. He helped carry ammunition and was given an official name, rank and number.
When the war ended he spent time in Berwickshire and then lived out his days at Edinburgh Zoo, where he died in 1963.
