The Fever Hospital

When I was walking back from the Education Centre to the Fever Hospital, there was blue sky, and it was too good an opportunity to miss! I kind of like the grandness of this, and suspect is was possibly originally the main entrance. The sign above says 1872, which I think would be when they first started to build, but it was opened (according to my sources) in 1883. I'm intrigued as to the discrepancy? Did the money run out?  Or was this an earlier section, with the "Grand Opening" years later? Or is my original source wrong?
