Manchester Firsts!

We are facilitating a breakfast "Question Time" this Friday, 13th November (we are not superstitious, honest!) in Manchester, to celebrate the forthcoming Devolution Manchester programme. Manchester being the first region in England to obtain devolved powers from Whitehall early next year.  The device above is a new "digital banner" which enables you to have a continuous slide show running of whatever you wish.  We have created a slide show of some 14 Manchester "Firsts" and one which may surprise you is the invention of the first British submarine - in Manchester, in 1878! Many more Manchester Firsts can be found here.

PS - I think the "Digital Banner" system looks a lot like the monolith in Stanley Kubrick's 2001 - A Space Odyssey, do you?
