Cape Le Grande

We arrived in Esperance just after midday and hot footed it down to Cape Le Grande in the hope of being able to secure a camp site for the next couple of nights.  No such luck.  The campsite was full to the brim and mainly due to the fact that there is a major reconstruction of the camping area at Lucky Bay and there were only 15 camp sites available at this stage.

Cape Le Grande is the most majestic National Park and we couldn't wait to revisit it this time round.  After a quick look around we decided to head back to Esperance to regroup before heading off across the Nullarbor Plain in the next couple of days.

This particular outcrop is called Frenchman Peak and was named by surveyor Alexander Forest during an expedition in search of good country for pasture in 1870.  The peak's shape was thought to resemble the hats worn by French troops in the 1800's
