Exit...Stage Left

The Veterans Day program was held today at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Unlike the last couple of years, the weather was crisp (50F) and clear, with hundreds of people attending.

The Marine trumpet player waited through the program for 45 minutes to do his part. He played the "theme" songs for the 5 different branches of the armed forces. The Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Then, right before the closing prayer, he played Taps.

It was a moving ceremony. No matter how you feel about armies and war, I think you have to honor and respect the men and women who serve, and who die, for their country.

Amen.
