A day at the hospitals
At home, doing homely jobs, this morning.
Mum had an appointment with the orthotist this afternoon. Her new shoes were ready. They are made of a high quality, soft black leather - and look very clumpy and inelegant lovely!
A different cervical collar has been ordered because the first is so uncomfortable.
Our friendly occupational therapist spotted us and took the opportunity to show Mum the hospital bed they have in their department. Mum was pleasantly surprised and will think about it (for the future).
Then a quick supermarket shop followed by a trip to Haltwhistle to visit our friend, Pat, who is an inpatient with confusion; part delirium and part (probably) dementia. Her husband, Bob, visits daily. Here he has smiled for the camera, but there is not much to smile about, because Pat is showing no sign of improving. Life is very hard for them. Thankfully, the hospital staff are lovely and the atmosphere of this cottage hospital is pleasant and supportive.
