Too loud to work

The works on the campus have now reached the point where they are breaking out concrete on the ground floor immediately below our office. Today it was so loud that Colin, who I share the office with, dug out an old pair of ear defenders and sat at his desk wearing them.

At one point today it wasn't just the noise, but the vibrations were such that my desk was actually shaking.

I shall be working at home tomorrow!
