Nearly a lift

Farmer Franz came by in his tractor to inspect Angie's work and seemed impressed. So we hitched up the trailer and I followed him home to unload before he returned the trailer for Angie to do a repeat act over the weekend and he would collect, hopefully the last load next week.

Franz came just as I was about to collect Flash from the walk/ride. As a result and misunderstood communications, he ended up doing the whole walk and was pretty tired when they got back.

As a penalty I ended up loading half the trailer. Late afternoon then took off with the dogs to the beekeeping supply "shop" very close to sheep farmer Karl. Once the bits bought, drove down to the farm but as it looked as though he wasn't there, took off with the dogs for a gentle walk, for Flash's sake.

After just a few minutes Karl came dashing up in his SUV/ATV type smart car not even stopping as he was in a hurry, guests just arrived and the fire not yet lit and ....... Just down the road we found him moving  the sheep from the barn field to one adjacent. The warm weather is forcing him to drive them out again - at this time of year he would normally be looking forward to peace and quiet with the herd based at the barn.

His dog Sophie dashed around, unheard and faster than lightning to get them moving and then took up position at the cars right front wheel waiting to see if any tried to escape. Again Luna very interested, not in the sheep but on what the heck Sophie was up to. Flash after his success last week didn't feel the need to show off and took a back seat.

Then Karl dashed off back home and we continued the walk. On the way back passing the barn again we found two younger sheep wandering around freely. Flash realised something was wrong and did his very best but the two girls were obstinate and quick, disappearing in to the top floor of the barn with loads of round hay bales. In the dark he tried to find them but the floor is full of large open hatches and I think his eyesight is getiing poor. So called off the action and told Karl when we dropped in quickly at the farm. He had wanted us to stay for a drink and dinner but I knew Angie was cooking and so after a short chat and my first involuntary use of snuff - not common but still often used in rural areas in Bavaria - we set off back home.

Snauff was not as bad as I imagined but I won't be repeating it. I will get my lifting experiences elsewhere and Flash will no doubt get another opportunity soon for his next lift.

PS after posting noticed the apples still hanging on the tree to the right of the car - the reason the sheep had "stalled", enjoying the bonus snack.
