An unfurling Koru

Our New Zealand ferns are coming up into new growth at present, with the tight buds unfurling into long graceful branches. This was a very tiny branch, delicate and looking vulnerable with it's soft growth. The buds of the unfurling silver fern are called 'koru' - I'm not sure what the buds of this and other ferns are called, if they've got a maori name.

My little waterproof Olympus Tough camera is tricky to use for close-ups, although it's supposed to have a 'super macro' setting. Any hints on using it for macros gratefully received!

So nice to be able to get onto Blip easily this evening! Thanks to whoever got it up and running again - much appreciated.
