The Boathouse
We were supposed to be taking things a little easier today. Just the one visit, to Dove Lake at the base of Cradle Mountain. The day started well enough. A wee sleep in (to 7am) and a leisurely ride towards our destination was broken only for a diversion to the Mount Round lookout and a fantastic fry up (my first of the holiday) at Cethana Coffee.
We arrived at the visitor centre at around midday and joked with the Ranger how we had five hours to do the walk. Three and a half hours later with around a third of the circuit to complete, panic set in a little! :-)
We had all sorts while walking the 6km circuit. Sun followed rain followed sun as we walked but the wet stuff really didn't come to anything and it did provide the most wonderful low cloud that kissed the top of the mountains. Obviously there was a lot of distractions along the way which was why we vastly overrun the no stop estimate of 2 hours to complete the walk. As we tried to pick up the pace a little to get back in time for the last shuttle bus we were hit by an unexpected climb.
That was fun... but we did make the last bus. ;-)
My thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragic events in Paris today. Shocking and horrifying... :-(
