Beam me up Mr Spock

I took this shot of the Starlings,not realising there was a pole between the two of them.It was quite dark and the pole was out of focus too in the viewfinder.But because I was stopped down to f8 it was sharper in the final shot.
  Never mind it added a 'Glimmer of light' to the shot?
