Christmas Cactus
I think that's what this cactus is called. It sat in Mum's kitchen bay window after a friend gave it to her sometime in 2013 I think. That was the winter she became ill in the October and she spent the next three months in and out of hospital, spending Christams in there too.
Her friend looked after it while Mum was away, and indeed when she was home too, but Mum loved to look at the 2/3 flowers it always had. After Mum died, D looked after it right up until the house Was sold, although to be honest I think she over watered it and it never flowered last year. I brought it home with me on the last visit to the house and with that change and then our move in July it was fairly frail right up until a few weeks ago. I moved its position a couple of times and seem to have got it right this time. What huge vibrant flowers! Mum would approve.
Last night brought several awful atrocious acts of terrorism to Paris. I have emailed my friend Dominique, but not heard back yet. We were pe friends in our teens and have exchanged visits over the years. I hope the family is ok.
My thoughts are with all Parisiens.
