A wonderful few hours spent with a good mate on the river, and both of us catching fish, is a perfect day in these eyes.
I fished as a guest on a private stream and what at first looked unpromising and tricky turned out to be hugely rewarding and very tricky.
Fifteen Grayling and six trout (who obviously don't respect strict season guidelines) between us in four hours was a good effort and the small fortune in flies left decorating the local flora was an acceptable price to pay.
