Getting there

With the help of one my fishing mates I've been able to progress the raised garden. I had the timber delivered but one piece of timber was too long, a fault of my measuring and figuring out which bit would have an overlap with another piece, and which wouldn't (if that makes any sense).

Anyway, it's all laid. There is still some H4 timber to complete at the back, to keep soil away from the house, the drain clear, and access to where broad band enters the house.

We made pegs using 50x50 treated H4, and made the pointy bit using a chainsaw. It's a cool chainsaw, quite small and it runs on electricity not petrol.

Two corners have pegs and screws in place. Tomorrow after work we'll complete the H4 and pegs. The longest piece of timber I've sat the new plants on needs leveling too. It's too heavy for me to shift alone but it won't take long tomorrow to sort it.

In an ideal world I'd get a scoop of soil/compost mix, drop it in the driveway, and wheel barrow it in. With sewer repairs that isn't possible. It's an L-shaped garden and long side doesn't need too much building up. I'll get 4 or 5 bags of mix, and ask the repair guys if they can barrow it along from the park, which is as close as I can drive.

All going well I'll be planting cos lettuce, parsley, scarlet runner beans and the happily named drunken woman lettuce, by next weekend. I'm not sure how I'll solve the remaining soil problem. I'll see how the bag idea works and take it from there.

No visit to Benedict today. There were things going on at his temporary residence. Only 5 more big sleeps until he comes home.

I'm pretty bushed, it will be an early night tonight.
