We had one mission today and that was to get out of the rainy weather at home and drive until we find snow. We ended up at the summit of Mt. Baker (only 2+ hours from home) and on one of our favorite hikes from the Spring, Chain Lakes. As we started on the trail we found it both exciting that no one had traveled it since the snow fall and also very challenging as we had to blaze our own trail (from memory) through 3 - 4 ft deep snow. Alex had a blast the entire time which is funny, because he probably had to work the hardest! However, after Alex and I needed to be dug out and rescued by Isaac a few times and we made the realization that were losing daylight fast we (Isaac) made the (smart) call that we needed to head back before we reached the first big lake. Very smart call on his part as we barely made it back to the car before darkness set in fast. We had fun, though, on this adventure and have now determined that we may be purchasing snow shoes in our near future so we can do more Winter hikes. More from the hike.
