Tiny splash of blue

This little pansy was a touch of brightness in my gloomy garden when I arrived home after my London weekend.

It has felt surreal.

We arrived back at the hotel on Friday night to the horrendous news of the Paris murders.

"Carmen" at Covent Garden on the Saturday evening began with a sensitive speech from Kasper Holten, followed by a very moving silence, as the cast prepared to present "France's greatest opera"

This morning, Nicolas Courjal, the wonderful French baritone who had performed as Zuniga (the Lieutenant), sang a moving Marseilleise at the end of the Andrew Marr show.

At Euston, it was rather chaotic. Problems with signals and with overhead wires meant that trains were stuck, having to be cancelled, and the crowds were building. We were told to look at the board for information.

Virgin Trains found a very human way of keeping us informed as we waited patiently for the incoming trains so we could head home. In the frustration, it did raise a few smiles.  My extra photo says it all....
