Rained off!
I'm a Brit, therefore always, always prepared for every type of weather, especially rain - and especially rain when you are cooking outside. Why should it be any different here. We drove up to a corner of the farm, unpacked, got the fire going, started feeding the boy his first mouthful of dinner, and of course, were treated to those great big drops of water we've been praying for. Just not when we were outside. And, of course, we had nothing to shelter from the rain in, even the Land Rover was open topped.
It ended up being a nice early evening drive, one hungry baby and a few damp things to sort out once we got in. The ensuing thunder storm was incredibly impressive and at least now it's only about 30 degrees, so far nicer today. My morning run even reminded me of Richmond Park with slightly damp sand under foot.
We tried, anyway. Our night under the stars became half cooked dinner, finished in the kitchen, but at least we started off with a great fire and we now know a fantastic corner for next time we camp out.
