Keeping your balance while having a good preen is essential for any bird - I would have thought anyway, and strong winds don't particularly help.

This one really struggled in gusts of strong winds though, nearly losing its balance here while trying to stand on a branch hidden by the water.

It did manage though - to have a bit of a preen that is, and keep its balance while doing so :-)
