Sunday Jobs

I like Sundays. Looking back on today, I don't think I actually achieved anything, but you get days like that. I'll summarise....from my comfortable clean newly made bed.

Woke late and got up even later.

Jon walked the dogs while I did bits. Changed the sheets on my bed. A bit of ironing, a bit in the kitchen, a bit more ironing, bit of washing...you get the picture!

As some will already know, I attempted to make pumkin soup. My biggest obstacle to do anything at the moment, is my memory. I started it - it was supposed to just simmer. But it boiled....over. I had basically made cheese, boiling the milk until the curds and whey separated, a big curdled mess. I blended the chunks of pumpkin and added spices, butter and sugar. 3 out of 4 of us ate it. No one wanted seconds!!! The rest went down the sink. I'm not cut out for the kitchen.

After lunch we got out some music and various instruments. We tend to do this about this time of year - grand ideas of playing a Christmas tune all together. But guitar, trumpet & flute don't really go together! So we all played random tunes until we got fed up and that was that.

While roast chicken was cooking I did a bit if sorting out from yesterday - the lounge is looking very full. Henry settled down to sew badges onto his new uniform from his old one. I made a few Christmas shopping plans for Wednesday, and at 7 we had a late dinner. Apart from that I haven't done very much.

I am looking forward to a week of sitting down in the evenings without making anything. My poor arthritic thumb isn't happy, so I need to rest it. I have no urges to find another craft fair to move my remaining earrings. Perhaps, in a week or so I'll change my mind!

Bed time. I have a book I've been reading since our holiday in August. I intend to finish it. Tonight.
