A very strange fruit

A Medlar - these need to be bletted (aka allowed to go a bit rotten) before they can be eaten. I have tried it, but I wasn't hugely impressed with the end result - tasted ok, but not a "wow". Perhaps that's why they have gone out of fashion?
The good news is that Fave Niece is looking and feeling much better. She can cope without the oxygen and, if she is still ok tomorrow, may be able to come home very soon :-)
