What am I?

I saw this bird today on the lake at work :)

No idea what it is, can anyone enlighten me?

I also saw what I think was a heron, but as I crept along getting my camera ready (I saw it arrive)....a large group of men walked past talking loudly and it made a getaway (see extra)...  Quite cross as so near, yet so far....

Rubbish day on the travel side of things.  Heard early on of a major 6 vehicle pile up on the motorway, closing Theale junctions.  I decided to take the train, but got a later one and by the time I got to work, it was late :(

Home, pjs on, chilling in front of the TV.  Probably an early night!
