Mt Mantel
We have finally had a gloriously fine day today, no frost this morning, and clear blue skies during the day. All of the snow has melted on the ground, just leaving snow on the mountains surrounding us.
This picture is of Mt Mantel in all its glory. It was taken just after 5pm when the sun was going down, looking up the valley from our farm. Mt Mantel is between the Maruia and Matakitaki Rivers, and is well known for its tramping and hunting trips.
We are going to have a cracker of a frost tonight - it is already down to 1.3 degrees C and it is only 5.30pm. I don't mind frosts, as long as the sun comes out like we had today.
