The power of a sundial
Coming home from Turning Point Scotland strategy day followed by a Board meeting and dinner afterwards.
The important guests presenting at the start of the Board meeting were recipients of money from Make it Happen -a committee which allocates small amounts of Turning Point Scotland money to service users .
They have usually been well supported by Turning Point and money from Make it Happen can improve self esteem and help them to achieve a goal.
Pauline spoke about being able to purchase a sundial in memory of her friend Anne. Pauline is disabled and uses a wheelchair. She struggles to speak but was very courageous and managed well with the help of her supporter.
The pain of losing her friend was obvious but she was determined to tell us her story.
Alex also told us what the money from Make it Happen meant to him.
He had been struggling with addiction but Turning Point Scotland supported him to change his life around. He applied to Make it Happen to fund a dream to travel to London to visit the Houses of Parliament. He has always loved history and did not expect to be able to walk in the House of Lords, as a man from Glasgow with limited horizons.
Now clean and sober and well on the road to recovery, his delight was clear to see..
"It's some place so it is"
