Renmark Revival

It's only once in a blue moon that I post a mono image.  I've worked it out that I'm really a full on colour girl, however I decided to post a mono today from Renmark.  We arrived here just after midday and boy was it hot.  The temperature reached over 40 degrees here today and we decided the best spot was under the big trees on the banks of the Murray River.  

After doing some research on our two final destinations before we reach Wombat Hollow and home.  We discovered that it's going to be 42 in Balranald today and 43 in West Wyalong.  It didn't take long to decide that the banks of the Murray River is the best place to be right now.  

We are in for a treat today.  There are just over 20 pleasure craft sitting on the banks of the river.  The owners have brought their craft in for a very special event.  It's called the "Mighty River Run" - They are going to look after a whole team of children who have disabilities and who live in the surrounding area.  It's being organised by a wonderful organisation called Novita (Latin for New Life).  These guys have raised over $300,000 for the organisation and I'm going to give you the link to the Novita Website so that you can read all about the great work they do.   Their bi-line "Developing kids' potential every day"  

My image is of one of the characters who will be looking after the children today.  This really shows just how hot it was even by the banks of the Murray River.

Paladian has just alerted us to the horrendous fires near Esperence and Salmon Gums in Western Australia.  We were driving through that area just five days ago.  Our hearts go out to the families of the four people who have lost their lives in this terrible event.  We are determined to sit still in Renmark until this Heat Wave passes.  It just seems so unreal.
