Scared of his own shadow

J was scared of his own shadow. This hadn't always been the case. At first, his shadow had just been an annoyance - making obscene gestures behind his back in meetings or getting in the way when he was trying to read. But then things became more serious.

We are used to effortlessly pulling our shadows along with us. But the pull can go both ways and as he was crossing a busy, sunlit road, J's shadow suddenly stopped and he found that he couldn't move. It was fortunate that a small cloud obscured the sun for long enough to allow J to jump onto the pavement.

J is scared of his own shadow.
