Sobbing scribbler (or scribblers)

I finished the whiskey a while ago (and very good it was too) but kept the bottle around because I liked the label. 
 
Now it's been blipped and chucked in the recycling. 
 
Wonder if the writer (or writers) was (or were) crying because of the missing apostrophe?
