No dog walk round lake today
The lakes at St Aidan's have all gone into one very large lake so part of the walk round is impassable not that it matters because it is such a big park there is plenty of space for the dogs to run.
Maddy decided to take off to visit a dog away in the distance, she did eventually come back but no amount of calling her stops that one when she has it in her head to do a runner. Molly and Tansy came straight back when checked but not Maddy. She did come back to the dog whistle eventually though.
4 Horse riders did attempt to go round the big lake but gave up as the water started getting deeper, they could have got into deeper gullies if they had gone on as the path has the lake on one side and a deep cut full of water on the other, some folk have no brains have they.
St Aidan's is used as a flood plain when the River Aire rises, they open the flood defense gates and the water runs into St Aidan's lakes this helps Allerton Bywater and Fairburn villages further down river to escape heavy flooding, that is one of the reasons it is flooded.
