The chop too early....
Well shortly after I took these at my brothers farm, these poor unfortunate young turkey's reached their end too soon.... Despite the electric fence and my brothers well built fencing system and seperation from the chickens and ducks, a fox managed to get in. Well he reckons a fox rather then a badger because three of them lost their heads.....so sad and I know they live a short life but their end involved a more humane way to go than the destruction the foxes did here. One was sadly left badly gouged between the legs and didn't make it either. So 7 handreared organically fed turkey's became 4.....
He reckons most likely foxes because they don't even bother to eat them, they just ripped their heads off. Now I love foxes but this part puts me off them as it's senseless destruction but I guess that's nature for you and part of the food chain. He's just worried they will be back now they've had a taste of blood. He has many handreared chickens and ducks who provide many free range eggs but are well cooped up at night. However this happened in daylight despite an electric fence. Poor turkeys......they're so friendly too coming up and greeting you when you come over as apposed to the chickens who usually run away
