Community supported cabbage
Today was the first harvest for our primary CSA, one which includes 32 shares distributed among the coastal towns of Arcata and Eureka. Shareholders pay a lump sum at the beginning of the year and receive a $20-worth share of produce each week for several months over the height of the season. The produce is delivered to a drop-off location and families have a couple days to stop by at their convenience to pick up their share. Today we harvested lettuce, kale, beets, herbs, and a few other things, including these heads of green cabbage and the last of our sugar snap peas. This is Christy laying out the peas to dry on the draining table before bagging them up in individual 1/2 pound bags.
