Summit Walkway

Today was spent very happily on Banks Peninsula with a group of walking enthusiasts, on the Summit Walkway to Mt Sinclair.  This is the view on the way back, looking down on Akaroa Harbour.

Some mountain totara tree stumps can be seen.  The original native forest was logged in the 19th century by the early European settlers, and the remnants are littered on the slopes.

In extras you can see some of the walking group wrapped up against the strong north easterly wind, and some high cloud that provided interest.  Also another image of a mountain totara 'ghost'.
