INFERNO

The day started quietly.

Occasionally a helicopter and plane checked the fire of the night before.
Suddenly the wind got up and all hell broke loose.
As I write 5 houses and a holiday camp have burned to the ground. Helicopters are constantly flying overhead to water bomb the flames. Sirens can be heard,. The main road is closed. 
I have a dear friend who has evacuated her dog and with her neighbours and the fire fighting team, they are doing what they can. The houses that burned were close to her in a wooded dell. They might have been wooden homes too.
The SPCA has sent a team to assist the animals fleeing the flames.
Rain expected at midnight tonight.
