Rain!

Look at this, a dark, damp looking house, soaking wet furniture outside and everyone taking cover. Finally, after days and days of thunder, it's rained about 30mls in a couple of hours.  I'm told that because our ground is sand based, it will all seep into the ground rather than just drain away from hard ground, meaning we'll get some greenery back.  

The wind is up, and it's still raining a little, the windows are all open of course, because just as we aren't good at keeping cool, keeping warm out here is alien, so closing curtains, closing windows doesn't happen.  The thatch comes out far enough to shield the rain from the house. 

The staff all scurried off to their compound as fast as they could just before the rain and taking advantage of an early knock off.  Shortly afterwards the power went (again), we've had intermittent power for about five days now, so the generator is humming away in the background.  Tonight it will be bed by candle light and good old fashioned reading or talking, rather than looking at the internet, which never turns out to be as interesting as you think it will be.
