How can this be?

This sight shocked and amazed me.
These men (and ladies) are members of our State Emergency Services. These are the folk who help us when a tree falls on your house, or when a cyclone floods the city, search for lost people after Bush fires, or privide traffic management when there are emergency road closures.
Basically, they provide an essential service.

So why on earth do they have to raise their funds to operate through roadside donations?

Our world is truly topsy turvy in its priorities.
