Contradiction, perhaps?
The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities along with team from The New Metropolitan launched their online photography exhibition "Lost+Found Edinburgh" at the National Museum yesterday (I was too tired to post to blipfoto by the time i got home).
An interesting experience: some of the discussion required more academic backround in the disciplines of Visual Culture, Urban Citizenship, Architectural Conservation than I have, but worth going to and some interesting conversations were had in the post-discussion mingle.
The venue was appropriate (Victorian Photography exhibition has been running) but rather flash, given the images of non-tourist Edinburgh that were the focus of the presentation. It would be interesting to discuss the same images with those living in and with the locations, rather than with those who inevitably pricess everything through an academically informed filter.
